Supreme Commander signals the next evolution in the RTS genre by being the first strategy game to deliver a truly strategic and tactical experience. |
Genre: RTS From: THQ Classification: TBA Site: www.supremecommander.com ONCE IN a while, a game comes along that sets an extraordinary new benchmark. After sampling this futuristic RTS set in the 37th century, you will be so blown away you’ll find it hard to play anything else that isn’t this good. And “good” feels like an understatement – “epic” is a better word. The war zones are huge. There is a scalable camera that gives a very wide view of the landscape, battle zone and your unit locations. Missions are varied, with objectives far more complex than just the RPG standards like capturing or destroying a base. You can even play using two monitors, which, while gimmicky, is useful in dealing with the complexities of the tasks. This is the story of three opposing forces of humanity who have fought a long, bitter and bloody war over conflicting and unwavering systems of belief. The three teams are a group of humans from earth, a cult that follows a mysterious religion, and a nation of part humans, part robots. Created by legendary developer Chris Taylor (of Total Annihilation and Dungeon Siege fame) this may be the best-crafted RTS ever, but before you rush out and grab it, check the specs at the official site. This game will push both your graphics card and your PC to the limit. It is also so massive that it can feel a bit overwhelming, especially once you go online for some multiplayer action. |
