Hi. Can anyone help me? I have an old 128k Lexar Jumpdrive USB drive and I am unable to recover files from it. I did try a program called Badcopy which did the job, but unless I paid up, the recovered files were not able to be made available. Does anyone know of a similar program but which is freeware?

If I try other similar programs they seem to stop half way through as they usually report "bad sectors" on flash drive and stop operating.

I do not know how to delete files from the drive as I suspect some tmp files may be causing the problem. Has anyone any idea how I can fix it.

I found a number of programs in addition to Badcopy that did the job, but unless you pay, even in a demo, you were unable to recover the files "processed" by the software. Also some times I get a Windows error message referring to an "I/O error"

So I am at a loss how to fix this. Any help would be most appreciated. I intend once I succeed in recovering the files on the flash drive to discard it. I now have a Cruzer Micro 1GB U3 flash drive and find this very good.

Thank you

Were the files deleted from the drive or has the drive become corrupted?

If the files were deleted then check out http://www.officerecovery.com/freeundelete/

If the drive has become corrupt then try the following:
